Success is something that Reeves has seemed to sabotage at almost every turn. He has appeared in big hit movies and then turned around and down smaller pictures, often movies with little or no artistic credibility. That has made him an anachronism in a town that prides itself on appearance, where success at the box office and at the award ceremonies are all anyone thinks about. That has never been what Reeves thinks about, he even donates much of his salary to crew on the films, he simply works in his own world and in the process became a true movie icon. “We inked the deal just yesterday. We were very happy to get Keanu to play Keanu because he’s really the best person to play him. We had talked to other people like Jake Gyllenhaal and Zac Efron but Keanu was always our first choice and we were thrilled that he agreed to join the show,” said Mike Older, a producer on the film which will be titled ‘Keanu’. “The best thing about having him is the experience. He’s able to play the role effectively and he really hasn’t aged so he is able to play himself at all stages of his life and so it makes him perfect for the role. We think we really have something special here.”

“I have to say that I’ve never really been a fan of Keanu Reeves. I like the first Bill & Ted movie but that was enough for me. He’s always so stiff and mechanical. The Matrix movies were great with everyone else but he kind of just threw things off. I really wish they had cast someone else in that movie,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “He seems like a really nice guy and everything but he is just so strange on screen. He’s like a living doll or something, it’s really hard to explain. I guess it kind of makes sense that they cast him in the movie but I bet his performance will be stiff. Of course the other options would have been a little silly as well.”

“There are plenty of other good actors out there who could have pulled off the role but I guess a lot of fans would have gotten in an uproar if they had tried to cast someone else in such a specific role. However for mainstream appeal it might have been better to put someone like Will Smith in the part. I would have liked that a lot better personally,” continued Temple. “His heart is in the right place and everything and it’s not his fault that he is the way he is but I just don’t want to be subjected to it. I guess I’ll be skipping this one.”
Reportedly Gary Busey has refused to play himself in the movie unless he is also able to play Captain Bligh in the film even though Reeves has never appeared in a movie that featured that character.
